This weekend we went to Howell, MI for the Michigan Challenge.
This was the first time that I’ve ever seen hot air balloons, so it was pretty amazing for me. It was a windy night and we were almost sure they weren’t going to launch, but then they started lighting up the burners and they were up! Of course the RE/MAX balloon just had to be there, they are so proud of that thing!
I took some video, and my wife took some photos, enjoy!

Recently my friend Joel told me to listen to some music by Takagi Masakatsu.
His music is great, it’s the calm ambient style that I like to listen to
when I’m working and creating.
He is an awesome video artist, and is totally living the life I’d like to have someday.
He makes a living creating video art and music. He can create without the boundaries
of someone else’s opinion. He creates for himself and for the benefit of others.
What he creates truly is art. I long to be able to create my own form of video art,
and some day have that be the only thing I do, no other day job. I know this is the
dream of basically every designer, but I still have to hope.
I hope his work inspires you as it does me, check out his music too.
We just got back from a week long trip to Nicaragua. It was warm and beautiful.
Check out our pictures on flickr.
Also, I’ve made a video recap, enjoy!
I’ve transferred this blog from Blogger to Wordpress, I think it will be much better now, and
I’ve put together a new reel of my recent work, and some of my best work, enjoy!
I recently completed some videos for and event a friend of mine put together called
“On Earth as it is in Heaven.”
This event was associated with Genesis The Chruch.
This first video features a famous sermon by S. M. Lockridge. I incorporated elements from the print design for the event, which was done by my friend Joel Vile.
This video was used as a loop and played during the song
“All Creatures of our God and King” by David Crowder.
The organizer of the event, Matt Darcie shot most of the animals,
I used some of my own footage also.
This video was written and shot by Matt Darcie, and is read by John Miller. I edited the music and video.
After buying an erhu 3 months ago I finally started taking lessons. The Erhu is a traditional Chinese instrument, sometimes reffered to as a Chinese Violin or Fiddle. Fortunately I was able to find someone who lives nearby to take lessons from, something I didn’t think would be possible when I bought it. Since the excitement of my first lesson I’ve gone through the entire gamut of emotions that go with learning an instrument. From feeling like I’ll never have any hope of being good , to just today feeling like maybe I can really play this thing. It really is a unique sounding instrument. I’ll be sure to post some video of me playing it, well, once my playing stops sounding like a dying cat.
It is great to be learning an instrument again. I’ve wanted to learn a stringed instrument for a while, I’m glad to finally make some progress.
This past weekend we checked out the detroit urban craft fair at the Majestic Theater in Detroit. It was a sweet gathering of some of the coolest crafting people I’ve ever met. I was especially intrigued by the blimp like lighting fixtures and the coolest diaper bags I’ve ever seen.
Here’s a short clip to give you a feel of what it was like:
